Beatles For Sale in West Springfield this Sunday [Posted by Dave Haber on Friday, 08/15/08 7:46 pm] [Comments] [Full Blog] [Tweet This]Massachusetts-based cover band Beatles For Sale is playing the "Musicians Against Abuse" benefit show at Geraldine's in West Springfield, Massachusetts, this weekend.
Proceeds from the show will benefit Safe Passage, an advocacy group for women and children who have experienced domestic violence. The show will also feature raffles and prizes, including box-seat tickets to a Red Sox-Yankees game.
Beatles for Sale is a fairly new group, but its members are veteran players with a diverse musical history. The band was formed about a year ago by Joe Budroe and Mike Christian, evolving out of a side recording project by the duo.
Budroe (who takes Paul McCartney's parts as bass player and vocalist) and Christian (Ringo Starr) are longtime players in the Worcester-Boston music scene and have been performing, writing and recording for more than 22 years. Dennis Cummins, who had experience playing John Lennon's parts in another Beatles cover band called Come Together, joined, as did Steve Caisse (George Harrison) and Dan Kirouac, who plays the keyboard parts often used in the Fab Four's songs.
The concert will take place on Aug. 17 starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $35 per couple. Geraldine's is located at 1519 Elm St. in West Springfield.
