Sad news for Beatles fans and fans of the Apple artists family. Kathie Molland, wife of Badfinger's Joey Molland, passed away in her sleep on Tuesday.
Kathie was a vocal, ardent supporter of her husband's career. She met Joey Molland in 1970 at a Minneapolis night club while Badfinger were on their first American tour. She married Joey two years later in London where they lived for three years. In 1975 they moved to California, and in 1983, the family moved to Minnesota.

Syracuse-area band The Fab Five served as Joey's back-up band frequently. Paul Davie of The Fab Five told the Syracuse Post-Standard, "There's a big sadness in my heart right now. Although I never met Kathie (who, with Joey, was based in Minnesota), I enjoyed dozens of phone calls with her over the last five years. She was Joey's and Badfinger's biggest cheerleader. And I will miss her."
Kathie Molland was born January 9, 1947. She is survived by her sons, Joseph III and Shaun Michael and her husband, Joey. A memorial gathering for Kathie will be held 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, at the Washburn-McReavy Strobeck Johnson Chapel, which is located at 1400 Mainstreet, Hopkins, Minnesota. Call (952) 938-9020 for information.
