Liverpool World Cup events to include Magical Mystery Park [Posted by Dave Haber on Wednesday, 12/16/09 3:19 pm] [Full Blog] [Tweet This]It was announced today at Wembley Stadium that the home of the Beatles, Liverpool, has been chosen as one of the host cities for England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.
According to an article in Click Liverpool, World Cup plans for Liverpool include a first ever Beatles-themed Fan Fest site on Mystery Park, which will be rebranded "Magical Mystery Park" for the occasion.
Based in the Wavertree area of Liverpool, Wavertree Playground, also known locally as The Mystery, was one of the first purpose-built public playgrounds in the United Kingdom. It's called The Mystery because the park was created on land provided by an anonymous donor.
Local offcials say that, as host city for the World Cup, Liverpool, the former European Capital of Culture, could generate £200 million within the local economy.
