John Lennon celebrations in Hollywood [Posted by Dave Haber on Friday, 07/16/10 3:34 pm] [Full Blog] [Tweet This]A "John Lennon 70th Birthday Public Celebration" will be held Saturday, October 9 at John's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star to celebrate the life and music of the late legendary singer, songwriter, peace activist and Beatles member.
Event highlights will include a cake-cutting ceremony, and Lennon and Beatles fans will inscribe messages on a 100-foot long "John Lennon 70th Birthday Message Scroll" that will be sent to Yoko Ono.

Event organizers are now looking for sidewalk chalk artists who are also John Lennon and Beatles fans to lend their support to the event. Please RSVP by replying ASAP, including phone number, to Event Coordinator Jerry Rubin at 310-399-1000, or email JerryPeaceActivistRubin@earthlink.net.
Also, on December 8, fans of John Lennon and the Beatles will gather once again at Lennon's Hollywood Walk of Fame Star to honor and remember him on the 30th anniversary of his tragic death. The "John Lennon 30th Annual Memorial Candlelight Remembrance" will also be free-to-the-public and will begin at 6:00PM.
Both Hollywood events are being organized by an ad hoc group of longtime John Lennon and Beatles fans.
John Lennon's star is located at 1750 North Vine Street, in front of the Capitol Records Tower Building. The free-to-the-public two hour special event will begin on October 9 at 12:00 Noon.
