Mersey Beatles to break Beatles Cavern record [Posted by Katie Hickox on Thursday, 11/11/10 9:01 am] [Full Blog] [Tweet This] Tonight, November 11th, the Mersey Beatles will be the first Beatles tribute band to have played Liverpool's Cavern Club 292nd times, as many times as the Beatles themselves. Between 1961 and 1963, the Beatles played a total of 292 times at the Cavern Club when they played the Cavern Club for the last time and final appearance on August 3rd, 1963. Next Thursday night, November 18th, the Mersey Beatles make history when they play their 293rd appearance and break the record set by the Beatles and also of any Beatles tribute band at the Cavern Club. The Mersey Beatles outside the Cavern Steven Howard, who plays Paul in the Mersey Beatles, said, "When we're 64 and we're looking back on our time as The Mersey Beatles, I think breaking the Beatles record of 292 appearances at The Cavern Club will be number one on the list of achievements. Having travelled the world & played places such as Abbey Road studios I hope this gives some idea of the importance of the club to us & the esteem in which we hold it."
