Beatles tribute band Abbey Road will perform songs from the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album and other psychedelic Beatles hits at diPiazzas Restaurant in Long Beach, CA., on Wednesday, October 24, with shows at 6 pm and 9 pm.
Released by the Beatles in June 1967, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band became the soundtrack to the "Summer of Love." For the Beatles, it was a farewell celebration to matching suits, mop top haircuts, world tours and assembly-line record-making. It was a worldwide critical and commercial success, spending 15 weeks at number one on the US Billboard 200 and 27 weeks at the top of the UK charts, despite a BBC ban on "A Day in The Life." Sgt. Pepper is one of the world's bestselling albums with 11 million sold. The album won four Grammy Awards in 1968.
|Tribute band Abbey Road|
Tribute band Abbey Road recreates the magic, music, wit and charm of the Beatles, including the Fab Four's cheeky personalities, familiar onstage banter and patter between songs. The musicians in the band are between 22 - 33 years of age and are age appropriate for the original artists when the Beatles were playing. Three costume changes cover the full range of the Beatle experience and beyond, with authentic early black Beatle suits, Sgt. Pepper's regalia and Abbey Road attire.
The show will take place at diPiazzas Restaurant at 5205 E. Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach on Wednesday, October 24, with shows at 6 pm and 9 pm. Tickets are $10 and the shows are appropriate for all ages. Reservations, which are highly recommended, can be made by phoning 562-498-2461.
