East LA Chicano rockers Los Lobos members David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas surprised a packed audience at San Francisco Yoshi's last Saturday evening, Oct 5th, when they got up on stage to join visiting Beatles tribute band Fab Faux for a rousing rendition of "Twist and Shout" which morphed into "La Bamba", some great ad hoc instrumentals and then back into "Twist and Shout".
Los Lobos was in town for the recent annual San Francisco "Strictly Bluegrass Festival" performances in celebration of their 40th anniversary of Los Lobos as a band.

Fab Faux is different than other Beatles tribute bands because of what they describe as "their extreme attention to details." They excel at creating a high performance precise live Beatles sound from their later albums which is not easy to do because of the wide variety of instruments and sounds used.
This night, Fab Faux mainly focused on songs from RubberSoul and Revolver, though highlights included "I Am the Walrus", and playing sitar for "Norwegian Wood". They opened with "Drive My Car". This was their third time in San Francisco, back by popular demand!
Fab Faux is currently touring across the country and you can catch them next weekend in Los Angeles, check their website www.thefabfaux.com for more tour dates.
