It's Official: Paul McCartney live in Boston on Aug. 5 and 6 [Posted by Dave Haber on Tuesday, 06/23/09 7:00 pm] [Permalink] [Full Blog] [Tweet This]According to Boston Music Spotlight, after weeks of speculation, Paul McCartney has officially announced that he will perform at Boston's historic Fenway Park on Wednesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 6.
Reportedly, tickets for both shows will go on sale Monday, June 29 at 10 a.m. via Live Nation. No tickets will be sold at Fenway Park. Ticket prices are forthcoming.
In a press release, Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner said, "Hosting Paul McCartney at Fenway Park is a true honor and a distinct privilege for all of us at the Boston Red Sox. He is a living legend and his contributions both as a member of The Beatles and as a solo artist are exceptional and everlasting. We eagerly look forward to having him here at America's Most Beloved Ballpark."

Over the weekend, a Beatles News reader commented that Red Sox season ticket holders have received a letter concerning a pre-sale this week for the purchase of tickets to two concerts on August 5 and 6 by "the Artist" unnamed, pending final arrangements.
Now today, The Boston Globe says that Paul will indeed perform at Fenway Park Aug. 5 and 6, and an official announcement could come tomorrow. They report that Boston Mayor Tom Menino's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing held a public hearing Monday night, and director Patricia Malone is expected to have something to say about the shows today.
Paul has already announced plans to perform live at Citi Field in New York on July 17, 18, and 19, and FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. on August 1.
