Rumor resurfaces: Now and Then ready to be released

Rumors are again starting to mount about the third "lost" Beatles track, called "Now And Then," the unreleased composition recorded by John Lennon in 1978, and was mentioned as a possible third new Beatles song around the time of Anthology in 1995.

An anonymous inside source tells Beatles News, "Its confirmed very high up. There is no doubt, none. The Beatles song "Now And Then" is finished. All four Beatles are on the track. The original Beatles reunion version from 1995 was embellished with numerous additional sessions over the last two years by Paul McCartney. Paul wants it out badly, according to high placed sources. It is said the song sounds very Beatley."

The anonymous insider goes on to say, "There is no doubt the song is finished, none, or that the finishing touches were done over the last couple years. There is no doubt that all four Beatles are on the track. I heard that George Harrison sings back up as well as playing at least one guitar. It is thought McCartney sings at least some back up, if not more and plays several instruments. It is also possible he wrote additional sections to the song. Why it is not out, I dont know. My sources cannot be revealed but they are very reliable."

Throughout 2005 and 2006, press reports speculated that McCartney and Starr would release a complete version of the song in the future, including rumors that it may be released to coincide with the Beatles catalogue being released for the first time via digital download.

A popular fan remix from 2007 called the 1995 edit consists of John Lennon's original demo along with instrumental overdubs by an unspecified artist and samples from various 1960s Beatles songs.

Please keep in mind, this new anonymous insider report is totally unverified, so take this as a heads up only that there may, yet, be more suprises on the horizon for Beatles fans as we approach 9/9/09.

Now And Then: You heard it here first, last year!

It's all over the news today. Sources say that the last unfinished John Lennon track could see the light of day soon. Called Now And Then, the new track was unearthed with Real Love and Free As A Bird during the Fab Four's Anthology series in the 1990s.

Regular readers of this news blog will remember we told you this same news way back in last year, on December 26, 2007!

These new reports of the rumor don't add much more information to our original report, other than that this new track may be released as tribute to Norman Smith, who passed away last month.

An "insider" is quoted as saying, "There have been discussions about finishing Now And Then. It would be quite a task. The process of re-recording the two tracks that charted was fairly painless because the songs were almost complete. Now And Then will need a significant amount more work to get it into a condition where it could be released."

Stay tuned and get your Beatles news before the rest of the world!

Now and Then leaked to YouTube?

Back at the end of December I reported here on the Blog about rumors of a new Beatles track coming in '08.

Now, observant fans have discovered that a video of a "new" version of the song Now and Then, not the John Lennon demo, has been uploaded to YouTube:

While I must stress that there is absolutely no way to tell what this is or where it came from, and whether or not it is the actual new version of the song that's rumored to be released sometime soon, I must say I personally think it does really does sound like a John Lennon demo given the same treatment they gave to Real Love and Free As A Bird in 1995.

Check it out and decide for yourself.

Rumor: New Beatles track coming in '08

An unnamed reliable source tells us that there is a new Beatles song on the horizon!

It is called "Now and Then", and reportedly has been finished and waiting to be released since at least May of 2007, or even possibly earlier than that. Some are guessing that this could be a "bonus" track for the new Beatles digital downloads that are supposed to be happening sometime in 2008.

Sometimes we learn more from what people are not saying than what they are saying. Sources closer to the Beatles refuse to talk about a track called Now and Then, and recently Ringo has refused to comment on the question of Beatles bonus material. In addition, there were remarks recently on a French website, regarding the release of new material to allow extension of copyrights in Europe. So, something definitely seems to be up.
