"Who would have thought that the Grateful could play Beatles and John Lennon songs?"

I would. Actually, during their time the played many Beatles/Solo songs such as Tomorrow Never Knows, Why Don't We Do it in the Road, That Would be Something, Hey Jude and a couple more.

The Grateful performed everything from Why Don't We DO It In The Road, to Revolution, to It's All to Much, to Tommorow Never Knows.

The Jerry Garcia Band used to do an amazing Dear Prudence and also When I saw Her Standing There.

And according to several band bios, seeing the Beatles at Candlestick Park and then also seeing A Hard days Night were very influential on the GD becoming who they became, it gave them a vision of how far Rock N Roll can go beyond playing at bars and parties.

Grateful!

Cool! I had no idea the Grateful were so influenced by the Beatles. Growing up in the SF Bay Area I must confess my ignorance of the and that my love of Beatles music was so great that I didn't go to many other concerts in the 70's and 80's, partially because I was too young in the 70's and money was tight.

It's amazing that these critics that only know "America Idle" still doesn't know G DEAD. The can play ANY aformentioned bands tunes on a first try. NONE of any of the aformentioned bands members could sit in with the G DEAD and even have a clue as to what's going on...

What a sickening way to sellout, for politicians. Jerry is turning over in his grave. For shame.
