Paul McCartney insisted film be true about Aunt Mimi

Paul McCartney has revealed that he clashed with the director of a film about John Lennon's childhood because she was planning to portray John's Aunt Mimi as cruel. As a result, Sam Taylor-Wood agreed to change the script of Nowhere Boy, which opened yesterday to glowing reviews, to show Mimi Smith in a better light. [More...]

Biopics are rarely 100% true. Really, there are only two people who could have ever given an accurate account of John's upbringing and they are no longer alive...unfortunately.
