Liverpudlians reveal new Beatles stories at Beatlefest panels

At the Los Angeles Fest for Beatles Fans held October 10 thru 12 at the LA Airport Marriott hotel, there were several panel discussions that offered new stories into the early days of the Beatles in Liverpool as experienced by a diverse group of Liverpudlians, including Julia Baird, John Lennon's half-sister and Angie and Ruth McCartney.

Liverpool author coming to Los Angeles for Beatlefest

On what would have been John Lennon's 74th birthday, the school friend who told him to start a band is unveiled for the first time in new book on The Beatles. Quarry Bank School classmate Geoff Lee reveals for the first time how he suggested to Lennon that, because of his great singing voice, he should start a skiffle group.

Artists and authors to open Arkansas Beatles festival on September 19

The 4th annual Beatles at the Ridge has expanded their two day music festival with free lectures and gallery shows from world-renowned Beatles authors, experts and artists. The authors and artists symposium will open with displays on Friday, September 19th and be on hand to discuss their work and answer questions.

Paul McCartney Candlestick farewell concert stark contrast to his last visit

Paul McCartney's Candlestick Farewell concert last Thursday has received high accolades from fans and music critics alike. In contrast to the last Beatles 1966 performance which used the baseball speakers, was just half an hour long and only drew 25,000 fans, Paul McCartney sold out and featured state of the art sound and video.

May Pang was the special guest at the Hotel Zetta reception in San Francisco on Monday to kick off an exhibition of unusual photographs. A very relaxed and happy John Lennon can be seen in the photos, taken by May during the two years they spent together from 1973 to 1975 during the commonly misnamed "Lost Weekend."

LA Beatles Tour guide helps fans reach out to Ringo on his birthday

Yesterday, July 7, 2014, was Ringo Starr's 74th birthday. To let him know how his fans feel on his birthday, Los Angeles Beatles Tour guide Gillian Lomax gathered birthday wishes for Ringo on twitter and combined them into a massive birthday card which she presented to Ringo by delivering it to his house in Beverly Hills today.

Giles Martin talks about A Hard Days Night in new Beatlefan

The New York/New England Beatles festival, Danbury Fields Forever, will "come together" Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, 2014 in Danbury, Connecticut. After 22 years and 56 conventions, producer/humorist and Beatles scholar Martin Lewis, who was a protege of Beatles publicist Derek Taylor, has stepped down from his role as Master of Ceremonies of the Beatlefest conventions held in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Boston and Orlando.

Fans trying to buy McCartney tickets for Candlestick leave empty handed

Many diehard fans were unable to buy any tickets via the TicketMaster online portal yesterday when tickets went on sale to the general public for Paul McCartney's August 14th Farewell to Candlestick Park Concert in San Francisco. One fan shared with Beatle News, "There was nothing online, I had five computers going!"

Theatre Within produces world's longest running annual John Lennon Tribute

Theatre Within, an experimental performance workshop started in 1962, which was originally located just a few blocks from the Dakota building where John Lennon lived, started their annual John Lennon tribute show back in 1981. Ringo talks about the Beatles and the Beeb in Beatlefan magazine

The new Beatlefan magazine includes an interview with Ringo Starr about his new "Photograph" book and the "Live at the BBC Vol. 2" album. "Those sessions were really immediate; there were no real overdubs of any sort. They'd tell us, 'We'd like you to be on this show and we'd like you to do 10 songs,' and we'd just say 'OK.'"

Play reveals how Paul got Fixing a Hole from Mal Evans

The play "Beatle Mal," based on Beatles roadie Mal Evans, was performed for one night only in Liverpool, Sept 28th. In the play, it is revealed how Paul got the name for "Fixing a Hole" when one day from their longtime pal. Nik Wood-Jones was convincing as the loyal and loveable "Roadie" so important to the Beatles all those years.

Beatles Rishikesh photographer Paul Saltzman screens new documentary

In early 1968, the Beatles spent several weeks in Rishikesh, India as part of a meditation retreat to study with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Many of the few photos taken of the Beatles at the Rikiesh retreat were taken by Paul Saltzman, who is now screening a new documentary about civil rights in the 60s.

Last Friday night at the Outside Lands Concert in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, Paul McCartney played before a sold out packed crowd of over 50,000. Beatles music festival to benefit charity

It was announced today that 100% of net proceeds from ticket sales for "Danbury Fields Forever," the day-long Music, Arts & Food festival taking place at Western CT State University in Danbury, CT on Saturday, August 3rd, will go to Newtown Parks & Recreation's "Dickinson Memorial Playground Fund."
