Beatles DJ Ken Michaels celebrates 35th anniversary

Long ago a friend of his at the college radio station where Ken Michaels was hosting several music formats from Top 40 to album rock, suggested he do a Beatles radio show. This month, Beatles DJ Ken Michaels celebrates his 35th anniversary since starting his weekly Beatles radio program "Every Little Thing."

Lost piece of music history we're dying to see released

"Carnival Of Light" is said to be one of the longest, and most psychedelic of all music recorded by The Beatles. Consisting of distorted guitars, church organs, and screamed phrases from Lennon and McCartney, the track is certainly not something that would be found on any of the group's records, so naturally, we want to hear it.

Los Angeles Beatles tour remembers George Harrison this weekend

This weekend, February 25, would have been George Harrison's 74th birthday. To celebrate, Gillian Lomax will be taking Los Angeles Beatles fans on a special Magical History Tour this Sunday that will highlight many of the places in the Los Angeles area that were special to him, including Blue Jay Way and Lake Shrine in Pacific Pallisades.

Beatles filmmaker Cevin Soling to appear at Beatles symposium

Beatles at the Ridge 2017 has announced Cevin Soling will be its Featured Filmmaker for the "Beatles Authors and Artists Symposium" in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, on September 16. Soling will preview segments of his new film, "The Summer of Hate," about The Beatles and the backlash against them during their final tour in 1966.

Beatles at the Ridge announces symposium 2017 headliners

In its fifth year celebrating the genius of The Beatles, the Beatles at the Ridge Authors and Artists Symposium has recruited a highly-distinguished panel of Beatles authors, artists, filmmakers, and musicians for the "Summer of Love: 50th Anniversary" on September 15-16, including authors Bruce Spizer and Jude Southerland Kessler.

Is Ringo recording a new album with Peter Frampton?

Ringo Starr posted this on Twitter on Monday: "Back in the studio with the great Peter Frampton thanks for the great day Pete Peace and love," along with a picture of Ringo and Frampton together. Ringo told Billboard last June that he was recording a new studio album for 2017, but there was no mention at the time of Peter Frampton.

Two Beatles scholars to lecture at Louisiana libraries in February

As part of its "All You Need is Love" month, the Ouachita Parish Public Library in Monroe, Louisiana will host two renowned experts and authors on the Beatles: Jude Southerland Kessler and Aaron Krerowicz. Both will give presentations touching on the band's historical, cultural and musical influence.

John Lennon car sells at auction

A 1956 Austin Princess formerly owned by John Lennon has sold at auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, for $159,500. The sale included the car's original, registration signed by John Lennon. Purchased by Lennon in 1971, the car was seen extensively in his 1972 made-for-TV documentary "Imagine" with Yoko Ono.

New Paul McCartney album anticipated in 2017

After announcing his return to Capitol Records, for whom the Beatles famously recorded, Paul McCartney wrapped up his 2016 tour and began work on his first album since 2013's New, going into the studio with producer Greg Kurstin, known for his work with Adele. "I'll put out my next album, but I won't think I'm gonna sell a lot," he said.

Kenneth Womack, PhD, a world renowned authority on the Beatles and their cultural influence, has written an updated, abridged version of his The Beatles Encyclopedia: Everything Fab Four. The title will be released in paperback on November 30, 2016, and is already available on Kindle for the first time.

Up-and-coming British art house Youngerman has introduced a limited edition line of prints entitled, Sounds From the Streets. The maps incorporates actual streets from the cities of Liverpool, London and New York, and the street names and locations have been changed to honor famous song titles and personnel.

The national broadcaster in Ireland, RTE Radio One, will broadcast the play "Death and the Beatles Fan" by Stephen Kennedy on Sunday, August 21.
