Rock Hall of Shame shreds Beatles, Stones' manager induction speech

The Rock and Roll Hall of Shame edited Peter Asher's induction speech of Brian Epstein and Andrew Loog Oldham to shreds on Saturday night's HBO broadcast. Asher started Apple Records, discovered James Taylor, and was one half of Peter & Gordon. It's utter disrespect to him, to Epstein's memory, and to Oldham.

Rock Hall of Shame dishonors Beatles, Stones managers on tonight's show

If we're lucky we'll see two seconds of Peter Asher's seven minute speech inducting the managers of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones tonight on HBO. It only took 29 years to get acknowledgments for these two seminal rock and roll figures. Oldham was so horrified by the whole event he didn't even bother attending.

A video clip newly-posted on YouTube gives admirers of the Beatles and Brian Epstein an opportunity to hear first-hand the induction of the Beatles manager into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on April 10th. It is highly probable this will be truncated when shown on HBO, making this the only unedited record of the historic event.

No Brian Epstein? No Beatles!

It's 46 years since Brian Epstein. He gave us the Beatles, the least he deserves in return is our respect, gratitude and love. Brian was one of nine inductees to the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but in five and half hours, the amount of time Peter Asher had to speak about Brian was only two and a half minutes.

Last night, the 2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted legendary Beatles manager Brian Epstein in New York City. Video: Epstein campaigner on 15 year fight to have Brian inducted

Getting Brian Epstein into the Hall Of Fame has been a 15 year battle for Martin Lewis. The Beatles were inducted the third year it was open in 1986. Their legendary producer George Martin got in 13 years later, but there had been no such honor for Epstein until tonight. He will then be inducted along with the rest of the class on 2014.

Rock Hall of Fame induction will be full of no-shows

Next week's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame show looks like it's going to be a mess. Of the nominees, Linda Ronstadt isn't coming at all. Cat Stevens is still considering his options. KISS won't perform because they're all fighting with each other. Nirvana can't perform because Kurt Cobain. Brian Epstein's family weren't even invited.

Beatles scholar on the recognition finally of Brian Epstein

I am thrilled and delighted that 15 years after the campaign was launched to have Brian Epstein honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it is finally going to happen. The most under-sung hero across the Beatles' universe, without Brian Epstein's passionate belief in them, the Beatles' genius might well have gone undiscovered by the world.
