PBS to air Ron Howard's Beatles documentary in November

PBS today announced the U.S. broadcast premiere of Academy Award-winner Ron Howard's documentary The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years will be on Saturday, November 25. The film will be followed by Sgt. Pepper's Musical Revolution, which continues the story through the months the band spent creating Sgt. Pepper.

Ron Howard on capturing Beatlemania in Emmy-nominated doc

Oscar-winning director Ron Howard wanted to capture The Beatles concerts at the height of Beatlemania. A Beatles fan, but not an "encyclopedic," he said he wanted to show hard-core and casual fans what it was like for the band to perform in sold-out arenas packed with so many high-pitched concertgoers they couldn't hear themselves play.

Eight Days a Week Beatles documentary nabs five Emmy nominations

The nominations for the 69th annual Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday morning, and the Ron Howard-directed The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years came away with a fab five nods, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, outstanding writing, picture editing, sound editing and sound mixing.
