Lennon was not a fan of U.S. Beatles albums, now to be released on CD

Capitol Records executives had a whole different strategy for releasing Beatles records in the U.S. "We almost got to not care what happened in America because it was always different," John Lennon said in a 1974 interview. "It used to drive us crackers 'cause we'd make an album and then they'd keep two from every album."

All 13 US Beatles albums to be reissued on CD in new box set

The Beatles' impact on America is to be celebrated on the 50th anniversary of their culture-changing Ed Sullivan show appearance of February 9, 1964. January 20 next year sees Apple Corps/Capitol Records release a box set of the US-only albums, from January 1964's Meet The Beatles! to 1970's Hey Jude album.
