New CD includes guest appearance from Tony Sheridan
February 29 -- San Diego, CA -- Guitarist and songwriter Dave Humphries will perform a CD Release Show for his 4th album, "and so it goes..." On March 1, 2008, at Humphrey's in San Diego. Guest appearances on the CD include Beatles compatriot Tony Sheridan.
Dave Humphries hails from Durham City in the Northeast of England and has lived in San Diego since 1996. While living in England, Dave played in various bands, doing clubs and pubs. But it was when he arrived in California that his music career took off.
Humphries specializes in melodic pop crossed with good time rock 'n' roll, in the grand tradition of Badfinger, The Lovin' Spoonful and The Beatles. Over the course of his three albums to date, he has honed his craft, zeroing in on strong song hooks. In particular 2006's 38 Days, made a few waves, scoring him spots in Southland music festivals and media, including an appearance on KUSI-TV. The disc also earned Humphries a nomination in that year's San Diego Music Awards. More importantly the disc included an appearance from legendary rocker Tony Sheridan. It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Now comes his fourth CD, "and so it goes..." from Blindspot Records. Available March 1, 2008, the tunes range from the psychedelic pop of "Run Away for the Day" to sadness tinged "Heartbroken Angel," with a lot of excellent music in between. The album is highlighted by superb production from Mike Kamoo (The Stereotypes) and Wolfgang Grasekamp. They don't miss a trick. From keyboard flourishes to chiming twelve strings, it's in there.
"and so it goes..." includes guest appearances from Kamoo as well as Todd Hidden (ex-Rockola) and Bart Mendoza (The Shambles) but what really sets the proceedings apart is the participation of Tony Sheridan. He performs on five of the eleven tracks here and his presence, as well as (and guitar playing) turn something good into something special -- just listen to the way his guitar licks wrap around Humphries melodies.
Humphries and his regular band Wolfgang Grasekamp (piano), Toby Hinkle (bass), Todd Hidden (guitar) and Fin Park (drums) will be performing around the Southland to promote "and so it goes...", kicking off with a CD release show at Humphrey's Backstage Lounge, on March 1. With superb musicianship and hooks so strong they'll be ingrained in your conciousness after the first listen, this show and this album are essential listening for any discerning pop fan.
