In what is probably the final opportunity for fans worldwide to experience the Liverpool beat as it really was with the original bands from the era, the first show is booked for the 31st May and a marathon eight hour show is planned for the weekend of the Mathew Street Festival on the 30th August.
This will follow on from a special celebration at the world famous Casbah club on August 29th to mark the 50th anniversary of the venue where the Beatles launched their career. Wally Shepard Chairman of Merseycats commented 'This is going to be the busiest weekend for Mersey Sound groups since Liverpool bands held eight of the top ten positions in the hit parade in 1964.'
The shows will feature many of the original stars of the Mersey Sound including Ex Beatle Pete Best's Band, The Undertakers, Earl Preston and TTs, Lee Curtis and the All-stars, The Cryin Shames, and The Clayton Squares.
The management of the Hard Days Night hotel have allocated the Zygmant Suite (named after the world renowned photographer- Bill Zygmant) together with the famous Hari's Bar for the sessions and a special stage is being designed to recreate the backdrop of some of the famous Liverpool clubs of the era.
Jonathan Davies Managing Director of the Hard Days Night Hotel commented, "The Hotel design has been inspired by the Beatles and their achievements but we want our customers to experience the whole of the Mersey sound beyond the Beatles, a unique time that we thought could never be repeated until we discovered that many of the bands are still performing at MerseyCats."
Wally Shepard Chairman of MerseyCats said, "This is great news for the disadvantaged kids we try and support and this exciting new venue at The Hard Days Night Hotel, one the worlds greatest hotels, will surely add to our ability to support worthwhile children's causes."
