Front Page > Beatles NewsNew movie to follow a fan's ride through Beatlemania
[official press release]
Allied Artists Pictures has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with author Brooke Halpin and his screenplay partner, Frank Thurmond, that will bring Halpin's "A Magical Mystery Tour" novel to the big screen.
Brooke Halpin, a noted author, penned the original "A Magical Mystery Tour" novel, composed music to the Academy Award winning film Molly's Pilgrim, and is an accomplished television producer, with ABC, FOX TV and PBS productions to his credit. Together with Frank Thurmond, a graduate of Oxford University and film festival finalist, the pair have adapted the novel's characters with precision in this compelling story.
"A Magical Mystery Tour" is the story of Trevor Hampton's infatuation with The Beatles, taking him on a wild, unpredictable ride, as he adopts a new Beatlemania identity. Driven to escape from a tumultuous relationship with his father, his Beatle obsession rips apart his already dysfunctional family and derails his pursuit of true love. Can he end his 'magical mystery tour' and face reality?
Allied Artists' President, Robert Fitzpatrick, himself a former attorney for The Beatles, notes that "Allied is thrilled with this project and believes that scores of Beatles fans of all ages will find this movie riveting and insightful on many levels," adding that "Brooke and Frank have really captured the essence of a magical era."
Principal photography on the movie is scheduled to begin in 2010 with a theatrical release later that year. Published June 22, 2009
