Critically acclaimed Liddypool book to release second edition

Liverpool, UK -- July 25, 2011 -- Liddypool, Birthplace of The Beatles, the critically acclaimed book to concentrate solely on the history of The Beatles from their experience of living and growing up in Liverpool, will soon be released in its second and expanded edition.

Covering their rise from childhood in the 1940s and obscurity to their triumphant civic reception at Liverpool Town Hall on 10th July 1964, when the city said goodbye to the Fab Four, author David Bedford uses local knowledge and eyewitness testimony to chart every band member and name-change and lineup, from The Black Jacks to The Beatles: the story of the "Fab 27".

Bedford, a Liverpool native and noted Beatles historian, has updated what is considered to be the definitive book describing facts and truths of the colorful, formative years of The Beatles, starting many years before they stepped out in suits and mop-top haircuts.

In its new, soft back version, which includes a new pull-out map and updated content, this gloriously, colorful new edition takes fans on a unique magical mystery tour through the Liverpool of The Beatles, while setting the record straight on many myths and legends.

The book includes a foreword by former Beatles drummer Pete Best.

About the book's first edition, Hunter Davies, official Beatles biographer, said, "The best illustrated book on the Beatle Liverpool I have seen." Peter Grant, Liverpool Echo, said, "I read the news today, oh boy! David Bedford is one of the fabbest Beatle buffs around. I should know, being the Liverpool Echo's Beatle expert: every Moptop tome passes through my hands and this is an outstanding literary gig." And Pete Best said, "Having been a Beatle for two years and not professing to be a Beatle historian, to me, this book is totally enlightening."

Bedford spent nearly a decade compiling Liddypool: Birthplace of the Beatles. "Most authors who have written about the Beatles write about Liverpool from their computers in another country. All of my research was done the old-fashioned way: by visiting sites, talking to eyewitnesses first-hand, collecting stories from friends and acquaintances of The Beatles, and viewing hundreds of documents and previously unseen photographs. It was a labour of love."

Also available is the new CD, Liddypool: Who Put The Beat in the Beatles, featuring 20 original artists and songs that first inspired The Quarrymen to begin their musical journey, through to the rock 'n' roll songs that helped The Beatles become the greatest group on the planet. With narrative from Bedford, he guides you through the importance of each song to the story, from famous artists like Chuck Berry, Elvis and Buddy Holly, to the lesser known Johnny Gentle, Billy Fury and Faron's Flamingos. This unique CD is available from Amazon and iTunes. For more information on the CD, go to www.whoputthebeatinthebeatles.co.uk.
