NY area Beatles-themed music festival announces 2017 line-up
Wallingford, CT -- The "Fab 4 Music Festival," New York/New England's only regional Beatles-themed outdoor Music, Food & Arts festival taking place on Saturday, June 10th, 2017, has announced its entertainment line-up.
In June of 1967, The Beatles released their historic album "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and music was never the same. It was the kick-off of the "Summer of Love" and the start of album rock.
50 years later, fans are celebrating that momentous event at the Toyota Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT, inside the "Pepperland" Dome and also outside on the "Octopus's Garden" Patio. Music will begin at 1pm and continue until 10pm.
The event is in its sixth year, but the first time at the Oakdale, and is a family-friendly event with live acts and attractions for all ages.
The roster of talent includes The Hofners, Mystery Tour, Penny Lane, The Oh Nos, Number Nine, The Taxmen, Rotary, BeatleHead, The WayBack Machine, Fools On The Hill, Pat Horgan & Thunder Road, Al Ferrante's Country Gentlemen, Corporation TeeShirt, Dramatic Turn, Tim Palmieri (Beatles A-Z Show), Scott Ringle (formerly of the Blue Meanies), Tim Root (formerly of The Neatles), Eric Herbst (of DizzyFish) and others.
All in all, there are twenty acts playing every era of Beatles music, including solo material, rarities and the best known, most-beloved classics. For the first time ever, there is also a non-Beatles tribute act, David Tessier's Pre-Fab Monkees All-Star Show.
Highlighted performers at the festival will include The Hofners, one of America's foremost Beatles Tribute Shows, performing the "Sgt. Pepper" album in the Pepper outfits. Mystery Tour will be performing the other Beatles album from 1967, "Magical Mystery Tour," while Penny Lane will be playing the "Revolver" album. All three bands are from Connecticut.
The Oh Nos, from Massachusetts, will be playing a set comprised mainly of solo songs by Lennon, McCartney Harrison and Starr.
The Taxmen, playing the festival for the first time ever, are no strangers to fan gatherings, they performed at the Beatles Expo conventions in the 90s.
Three bands making their festival debuts are Dramatic Turn, Corporation TeeShirt and All Ferrante's Country Gentlemen. These "gentlemen," named after George Harrison's Gretsch guitar, are made up of such musical luminaries as Scott Lebish, who has played with the likes of Robert Palmer and James Brown; Paul Gabriel, best known for his work with Michael Bolton and Duke Robbilard; Rich Dart, drummer on The Monkees' tours; and Al Ferrante himself, who is former guitarist for Edgar Winter, Cyndi Lauper, Debbie Gibson and was John Mayer's guitar teacher.
In addition to the music, there will be a room full of Beatles memorabilia and music dealers, art and crafts vendors, exhibitors, attractions, and a large variety of food options available. A special guest of honor from the sixties will be announced soon.
To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper and the year 1967, full-day advance "Ticket to Ride" admissions to the Fab 4 Music Festival start at only $19.67 and are available from the Oakdale Theater/LiveNation.com. There are also V.I.P. tickets available. Admission will be higher at the door.
The Fab 4 Music Festival is presented by Live Nation in association with Liverpool Productions, the same company that presented "NYC FAB 50: The Beatles' 50th Anniversary Celebration" in New York City, and have produced Connecticut Beatles Conventions since 1978. They also organize the annual fan vacations to Liverpool and London known as the "Magical History Tour." The designated charity for the event is Concerts With Causes, Inc., based in Wallingford, CT.
With a full day of Beatleful fun and music, as The Beatles sang, "It's Guaranteed to Raise a Smile."
