Womack to present new book on George Martin at Ridge Festival
Walnut Ridge, Arkanas -- Dr. Ken Womack, author of the two-volume Beatles Encyclopedia and Long and Winding Roads: The Evolving Artistry of The Beatles will be feted at Beatles at the Ridge (Sept. 15-16) as he releases his new work on Sir George Martin, Maximum Volume: The Life of Beatles Producer George Martin (The Early Years 1926-1966).
Womack is a world-renowned authority on The Beatles and their cultural influence and has been selected as the Grand Finale Speaker for Beatles at the Ridge on Saturday, 16 September. He will be talking about the tremendous creative impact of Martin on Sgt. Pepper and signing his new book at a party in his honor, immediately following the presentation.

"The book is the first of its kind, it's unique in that it tells George's life story with some never-before-seen photos and anecdotes," says Womack. "Plus, its emphasis on the Beatles recording sessions makes it ideal for the Ridge. I'm pleased to have this book for my inaugural appearance at the festival!"
Womack, an award-winning American fiction writer and literary critic, serves as Dean of the Wayne D. Murray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University in New Jersey, where he is also Professor of English. He is the author of three novels and editor of numerous volumes of literary and cultural criticism.
"We are absolutely thrilled to have Ken Womack close our BATR Authors and Artists Symposium in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas this year," Jude Southerland Kessler, leading John Lennon expert and Symposium Chairperson, said. "Closing our two-day study of Sgt. Pepper and 'The Summer of Love' with Womack's insights will be a fitting end to a great weekend! We're 'chuffed,' as they say in Liverpool!"
Director of Beatles at the Ridge, Mayor Charles Snapp, added, "We've invited Ken to join us every year since 2105, but he's always involved in other academic events. But 2017 is The Ridge's lucky year! We can't wait to meet Ken and welcome him, Arkansas style!"
