Back on August 8 here on the Paperblog Writer I told you about the unique John Lennon Super Lamb Banana. A fun little story for a Friday, thinking we'd never hear anything about Super Lamb Bananas ever again... What'd someone say about never say never?
It turns out the Super Abbey Road Banana, as it now seems to be officially called, is looking for a new home.
UK Businessman Paul Challis purchased the sculpture at auction for ?9,400, with the intention of installing it where it could be enjoyed by the public. He offered for it to be installed at John Lennon Airport in Liverpool, and it looked like they were going to take it, but eventually because of logistics, they had to turn it down.
Challis said, "I was a bit surprised, this is one of the most famous sons of Liverpool and I was offering it to the airport that bears his name and instead it's doing nothing in my garden."
He's now accepting offers for a new location, and so far, suggestions include Dovedale junior school, which George and John attended, the entrance to Strawberry Fields, and a community facility at Grove Mount, near Penny Lane.
You can read rest of the story at the Liverpool Echo here and here.
