Ringo donates drum head to Woodstick charity event

Several thousand drummers across North America beat their sticks at the same time last Sunday in the sixth annual "Woodstick/Big Beat." Beatles drummer Ringo Starr donated a bass drum head to the charity event.

2,000 to 3,000 drummers participated, possibly setting a Guinness world record. The drummers played a simple drumbeat by Kimball called "Bang the Drum Quickly" for the record, then played other songs in unison.

The event has grown each year and has raised about $70,000 so far for charities.

"We had a blast. It was very loud," said event organizer Christopher Kimball.
