|Uncorrected copies of Capitol Albums Vol. 2 still being sold|

Way back in April 2006, we told you here on Beatles News about incorrect mono versions on the release of Capitol Albums Vol. 2, and how to identify corrected copies when they did finally hit stores later that month.
We've just heard from a Beatles News reader who tells us that he just purchased a copy of Capitol Albums Vol. 2 from the Barnes & Noble website, and he received a copy of the original release with the incorrect versions! We're very surprised that after more than two and a half years, some of the uncorrected versions are still around anywhere in a store's stock!
Only two of the four albums in the box, Beatles VI and Rubber Soul, were affected by the error, and only the mono versions of the songs. And the "incorrect" versions still sound great, and the differences between the wrong versions and the corrected versions are very slight, and would be noticed only by the biggest Beatles fans.
However, I'm surprised to have to report this at such a late date from when this all originally took place, but it seems that if you really must have the corrected version of the Capitol Albums Vol. 2, the only way to be sure you're getting it is to go to a store in person and check it out yourself. Mail ordering the set, you can still get one or the other.
Here's our original article reporting how to tell the difference between the two sets.
And while we're on the subject, I get asked a lot when Vol. 3 is coming out. The official word is that there is no official word. However, most "insiders" believe it still will happen at some point.
By the way, pictured above is my personal copy of the corrected set of Vol. 2 that I purchased here in Hollywood in 2006. Notice the Tower Records price sticker. They were a great store, a Southern California institution. Unfortunately, their stores no longer exist! According to their website, they now only have stores in Japan, Ireland and Mexico. Record stores, killed I assume, by Napster and iTunes...
