George Harrison will be remembered at a public birthday celebration on Wednesday, February 25, 2003 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM in front of Capitol Records Tower Building, 1750 N. Vine Street, Hollywood.
Fans of George Harrison are invited to bring flowers and birthday message cards to place around the star, and to participate in a birthday cake cutting ceremony to remember and honor the late legendary singer, songwriter and Beatles member.
Live and taped George Harrison and Beatles songs will be played at the event, and fans are invited to perform their own music, poetry and spoken word tributes. Radio host Chris Carter of Breakfast With the Beatles on 95.5 KLOS in Los Angeles will lead the children at the event in lighting the candles and cutting the specially decorated cake.
In addition, during the ceremony, a mock foam-board Walk of Fame Star for George that a Beatles fan has made will be placed next to John Lennon's star, in hope that an official star for George will be installed next to or near John's star sometime soon. John's star has been in front of the Capitol Records building in Hollywood since Sept. 28, 1988.
George Harrison was born February 25, 1943 in the Hunts Cross area of Liverpool.
The event is being sponsored by the Alliance for Survival peace group. For further information call (310) 399-1000.
