Paul on Sirius/XM through March 14
[Posted by Katie Hickox on Monday, 03/09/09 2:49 pm] [Full Blog] [Tweet] [Facebook]

Did you know you can listen to all Paul McCartney 24x7 commercial free on the Sirius Radio Channel 33 and XM 27 until March 14th? Paul started his own radio show for a one month run on Sirius Radio starting Valentine's Day.

The show is pretty cool, all Macca, plus a few quips from Paul here and there such as "if I didn't do this as a job (as a musician), I would do it as a hobby" and "not many know that I play the drums...I'm a good drummer because I have a strong feel (for the drums)...and play drums on my songs in the studio." In addition to a few quips played intermittently every 20 minutes or so, Paul has done some exclusive Fireman radio interviews.

Most recently, last Friday and Saturday, the Paul McCartney Fireman Radio show featured a phone call interview between James Taylor and Sir Paul McCartney in which Paul recalls about how it came to be that Taylor was signed by Apple Records as a result of his friendship with Peter Asher, who was Paul's former girlfriend Jane Asher's brother. Paul remininced after having visited Trident Studios for the first time since the late sixties before the phone interview.

Tonight, Monday, March 9th at 10AM, 4PM and 10PM, Mark Lapidos will be playing DJ and playing a great assortment of Paul's songs and talking about them and the upcoming Fest For Beatles Fans that he puts on every year. The next Fest is March 27th thru 29th in Secaucus, New Jersey.

The Fireman radio show features a wide range of Paul's music, from live performances of some Beatles classics such as "Can't Buy Me Love" to his solo work from all of his solo albums and tracks that have never been published, all interspersed with a few bits from Paul about how he mixes/makes/records his music. BeatlesNews fans can listen to Paul's Fireman Radio show for a free 3 day trial, otherwise a monthly subscription is $12.95/month.
