Saturday, August 15th was the 40th Anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock concert, and it was celebrated on the original site with an 8 hour concert featuring The Levon Helm Band, Jefferson Starship-Airplane, Canned Heat, Ten Years After, Big Brother and The Holding Company, Country Joe McDonald and special guests.
Being at the original site of Woodstock in Bethel, New York on the 40th Anniversary was a special event for everyone. The show was completely sold out. It was a great opportunity to see some of the original bands that played at the 1969 Woodstock concert. The Beatles "With a little Help from my Friends" was performed by Jefferson Starship-Airplane. It was performed in the style of original Woodstock performance by Joe Cocker.
There were many vendors there selling tie die t-shirts. After the concert, we all went to a large piece of farmland called Hector's Farm where thousands of people were camping out and partying. They also had a stage where musicians were free to play whenever they felt like playing. At 2:00AM, David Peel took the stage and performed many songs from his Apple Records album "The Pope Smokes Dope" and his Elektra Records album "Have a Marijuana". This was David's way of saying Happy 40th Anniversary Woodstock!
