WHAS-11 Abbey Road on the River kicks off this year's largest Beatles festival in the world with a free rooftop concert that includes performances from Hal Bruce, Britbeat, and Drew Harrison, tomorrow at 11:45 a.m. on the roof of the Louisville Visitors Center.
Beatles Hall of Fame inductee Hal Bruce will perform his "off the chain" renditions of Beatles classics. With mop tops, retro costumes, vintage instruments and harmonizing vocals, BritBeat will perform all of the memorable Beatle hits from the sixties. They display the same youthful excitement and boyish charm as the original "Fab Four" to recreate the electrifying performances made by the Beatles when they first came onto the American scene and started the "British Invasion" and "Beatlemania." Drew Harrison, Lennon vocalist of the San Francisco Bay Area's The Sun Kings, will perform "In the Spirit of Lennon," a very special acoustic show celebrating the life and music of John Lennon.
Advance one-day tickets for Abbey Road on the River are available at the Visitors Center for $25 and include a free 11x17 souvenir poster (while supplies last!). Included with a ticket purchase is a free Thursday/Monday ticket which entitles the bearer to an extra day of Beatle-Mania at no cost and one person age 21 and under is admitted free with each adult advance ticket purchase.
The event is free to the public and can be viewed from the surrounding street corners, or from nearby office buildings. Food will be available for purchase in the Hyatt courtyard. Fourth Street will be closed from Jefferson to Liberty Street from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The concert will be weather permitting.
