Tonight Billy Kinsley brought the house down playing many of his greatest hits before an enthusiastic crowd at the Cavern Club backstage in Liverpool to celebrate his new book "It's Love That Really Counts: The Billy Kinsley Story" written by BBC Radio Merseyside Host Spencer Leigh, and new CD of solo work "It's Love That Really Counts" released today, September 9th.
Billy was a former Apple session musician who played on many Apple label sessions and was been a lifelong friend of the Beatles. He acheived fame for many hits with the MerseyBeats and Liverpool Express such as "Sorrow", "It's Love That Really Counts", "You Are My Love" and many others.
Billy's own brick on the Cavern Club wall, presented by Cavern Club owner Bill Heckle, is located behind the statue of John Lennon on Mathew Street. Billy is already represented on the wall with at least 6 bricks with the names of various bands he has played with including the MerseyBeats, The Kinsleys and many others.
Last year, Billy was featured in a BBC Radio Merseyside series by Spencer Leigh, and a new book based on that show is now available. For more on this historical show, click here.
