|John Lennon's vision becomes reality|

The announcement that the Beatles catalog is now available for downloads from iTunes should not have surprised anyone.
After the Beatles management company, Apple Corps Ltd., settled its litigation with Apple, Inc., the computer company, it was only a matter of time before the similarly named Apple companies and EMI would work out an agreement to make the Beatles catalog available on iTunes. When the Apple Records catalog of artists whose names are not John, Paul, George or Ringo became available through iTunes last month, the Beatles catalog was sure to follow.
This development brings back memories of a comment made by John Lennon on May 14, 1968, when he and Paul were guests on NBC TV's Tonight Show to promote the Beatles homegrown business venture, Apple Corps.
John explained to guest host Joe Garagiola, "We've got this thing called Apple, which is going to be records, film and electronics, which all tie up."
Unfortunately John did not live to see the day where music, video and computers mesh together to provide entertainment. John knew they were interrelated way back in 1968. It just took a while for another company named Apple to help make John's vision a reality.
And we all shine on.
