Paul McCartney wows the audience at Love 5th anniversary
[Posted by Katie Hickox on Thursday, 06/09/11 4:03 pm] [Permalink] [Tweet] [Facebook]
Sir Paul McCartney made an unexpected appearance on the stage after the Cirque du Soleil's LOVE show 5th anniversary ended last night and said a few words saying he has nothing but praise for the LOVE show and "how it gets better and better every year" to the wildly cheering audience.
|Paul McCartney and Olivia Harrison last night at Love|
Ringo was unable to attend last night's show as he is touring, but he made a special videotaped message that was played on the giant screens before the LOVE show started wishing everyone his special "peace and love" message. Yoko Ono also spoke on stage and gave credit to Olivia Harrison for her work with LOVE. Also in attendance were Sir George Martin, his wife and son Giles who traveled all the way from London, along with Dhani Harrison and Sean Lennon.
|Ringo delivering his recorded message|
Last night's LOVE 5th anniversary show was very special, all the stops were pulled and extra confetti streamed down both at the beginning and ending of the show. Each of the performers really went all out and put on a stellar performance. Each dancer seemed to jump a bit higher or moved with more grace, especially the roller skaters. Everything went off like clockwork. There were a few new costumes and props, and subtle changes have been made particularly to the Strawberry Fields and Day in the Life sequences.
Beatlesnews spoke with one attendee, Katie McRea, who traveled all the way from Morrison, Oklahoma to see her very first LOVE show simply because she had heard Paul was going to be in attendance. A fan of the Beatles for many years, she even naming her son "Paul" after Paul McCartney. Her favorite part of the LOVE show was sequence in which the song "Within you Without you" is played and when a huge white translucent giant sheet envelops half of the audience and it appears to have a life of its own. She loved the LOVE show and especially loved that Paul was in attendance even though she couldn't see him from her seat during the show.
The Mirage Hotel currently has on display special LOVE exhibits to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the LOVE show which can be seen walking through the lobby. Go to their website for more information about the special 5th anniversary celebration and special offers.
