[Posted by Adam Forrest on Wednesday, 07/24/13 4:28 pm] [Permalink] [Tweet] [Facebook]

One of the most recognized iconic and historic artifacts from the final days of the Beatles is now up for auction on eBay. It is the hat worn by John Lennon for the last official Beatles photo shoot on August 22, 1969, at Tittenhurst Park, two days after their final recording session.

Unique new Beatles show opens tonight in North Hollywood
[Posted by Adam Forrest on Friday, 06/28/13 4:08 pm] [Permalink] [Tweet] [Facebook]

What if the Beatles reunited today? This is the intriguing question posed by the newest Beatles show which opens at the intimate El Portal Monroe/Forum Theatre this weekend, a re-staging of the original "Stars of Beatlemania", with a twist.

The show follows the Beatles as they would be today, if all four Beatles were reunited to perform a show at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, where the original Beatles got their start. As the "modern Fab Four" conspire to hatch a plan to play a secret show to be presented only to their most intimate and closest friends, fresh arrangements emerge, as do some surprising dramatic and humerous insights.

The show covers all three major eras of the Beatles career, from the Ed Sullivan years through to the Sergeant Pepper and the solo years. It stars the original cast members of one of the biggest Broadway smashes of all time, The Stars of Beatlemania!

The Stars of Beatlemania! Featuring the Original Cast members from the #1 National Touring Show in America Celebrating the Music of the Beatles opens tonight at 8pm at the El Portal Monroe Theatre, which is located at 5269 Lankershim Blvd. in North Hollywood, CA, and plays through August 4.

For tickets and more info, call 818-508-4200 or visit www.elportaltheatre.com

Today is International Beatles Fan Day
[Posted by Adam Forrest on Thursday, 06/06/13 6:28 am] [Permalink] [Tweet] [Facebook]

Today, Beatles fans from across the universe are once again showing the world that all you need is love as they celebrate the 6th Annual International Beatles Fan Day.

June 6, 1962 is considered by many as the greatest day in Beatles history. On that day, the Beatles auditioned for George Martin. The rest is history. And now, on that same day every year, Beatles fans celebrate John, Paul, George and Ringo and how they changed the world.

International Beatles Fan Day was created so that once a year Beatles fans could walk in public and see other Beatles fans wearing their Fab Four hats and shirts, one day a year fans know they can go to a local bar and listen to a tribute band playing Beatles tunes all night. It's a day for Beatles lovers to celebrate the greatest band that the world has ever known.

International Beatles Fan Day was created in March 2008 and immediately became recognized around the world as the de facto day to celebrate The Beatles. Up until 2008, the only days in Beatles history that have gotten attention annually were John's death, George's death and the day the Beatles came to America. Since its inception, International Beatles Fan Day has been copied by many, but still remains the original holiday for all fans.

Beatles radio show announces Macca Month
[Posted by Adam Forrest on Friday, 05/31/13 8:50 am] [Permalink] [Tweet] [Facebook]

Beatles radio personality Ken Michaels has announced that starting June 3, it's "Macca Month" on his website, with his weekly Beatles trivia/games centering on a Paul McCartney question. Throughout the month, fans will have a chance to win McCartney-related prizes, including the new "Wings Over America" 2-CD remaster.

Ken says the decision to make it "Macca Month" was pretty obvious. "This is a celebration of so much activity going on right now with Paul-there's the 'Wings Over America' remaster, the upcoming DVD release of 'Rock Show,' his current 'Out There' tour making lots of headliners and getting rave reviews, and his birthday coming up on June 18. It was a natural to make the trivia all Paul this month. It will be exciting to give away the 'Wings Over America' remaster, and some other McCartney products of the past couple of years."

In addition, Ken will be giving away the "Wings Over America" remaster and other Beatles prizes on the live broadcast of his weekly show "Every Little Thing," heard Wednesdays 8-10pm (est) on 88.7 WNHU, West Haven, CT, which can be streamed at www.wnhu.net. His June 5 broadcast will feature an hour of live McCartney music, and June 12 a two-hour birthday special for Paul.

Ken's website has also been featuring a growing list of interviews of people connected to the Beatles, including Denny Laine, discussing the songs "Time To Hide," 'Mull Of Kintyre" and writing songs with Paul, Billy J. Kramer on his days with the Beatles and his new album "I Won The Fight," New York musician Jeff Slate, whose current band Birds of Paradox includes two members of Elephants Memory (Gary Van Scyoc, Adam Ippolito) and two members of Wings (Laurence Juber and Steve Holley).

You can also find an archival interview with Tony Sheridan from 1992, Tony's own keyboard player from the early 90's until Tony's recent passing, Wolfgang, Beatles engineer Ken Scott, and veteran recording artist/producer and member of Ringo's All-Starrs, Todd Rundgren.
