Memphis teen music star to shine at Beatles Symposium

Musician Cameron Hicks, who is only 16, will be returning to Beatles at the Ridge's Authors and Artists Symposium in September for the third time as a guest presenter. An integral part of the Symposium, Cameron will be performing Beatles tunes several times during the busy weekend in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

Former fan club president to address Beatles symposium

Beatles at the Ridge Festival wins AFEA Gold Award

Beatles at the Ridge, an annual volunteer-run and free-to-attend festival in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, has just been named Festival of the Year by the Arkansas Festival and Events Association. Over 40 entries were received by AFEA for their awards, each being judged based on festival idea, media, security, publicity, and creativity.

In its fifth year as an "Authors and Artists Symposium," the noted Beatles at the Ridge event will, this year, add a rather significant Beatles music component. The recording engineer who told off the Beatles

Ken Scott, who worked with the Beatles as a Recording Engineer at EMI, for the first time shared stories of his work on Magical Mystery Tour and the White Album at the recent International BeatleWeek convention. He told the audience how one time he had to yell at the Beatles to shut up, because he couldn't hear the tape he was editing.

Sara Schmidt, author of Happiness is Seeing The Beatles: The Beatles in St. Louis, will be one of the guest authors for Beatles at the Ridge Symposium, Sept. 15-16 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Schmidt will talk about new book she is writing about Beatles Fan Clubs and share the true story of George Harrison's days in Benton, IL in 1963.

Lanea Stagg, author of the Recipe Records cookbook collection, is set to debut her latest in the series, the Rolling Stones-themed Let's Spend the Bite Together, at The Fest for Beatles Fans in Chicago this weekend. The Stones and the Beatles were both breakout acts from England in the '60s, often pitted against one another by the press.

John A. Logan College awards inaugural Imagine Scholarship

Savannah Jennings, a Johnston City high school senior, was awarded the first-ever "Imagine Scholarship" to John A. Logan College in Illinois. The award procedure includes letters of reference, high school transcripts, and a written essay. "I grew up listening to my parents playing music by The Beatles," Jennings said.

Fab 4 Music Festival this Saturday

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, the East Coast's only Beatles Music Festival, the "Fab 4 Music Festival," will be held this Saturday, June 10th, from 1pm-10pm. 20 bands will be playing on two stages, special Guest of Honor for the festival is Gene Cornish of The Rascals.
