If you've never been to a Fest for Beatles Fans because you imagine that it's all lectures on "The Intricacies of Harmony on The White Album" or embarrassing Beatles look-alike contests, it's not. In fact, the Fest is not about the past at all. It's about now, about new Beatles releases and events, new Beatles-inspired music and art.

Chicago Beatles Fest Day 1: New releases from familiar faces

For a girl from L.A. (Lower Alabama) it's thrilling to be in the big city and to be surrounded by Beatles Fans! Jon Polk is here with his new Lennon Box of Vision. Bruce Spizer is writing a new book, the one I've been begging for, The Beatles on Parlophone! And artist Eric Cash is showing his painting of that historic first meeting between John and Paul.

Chicago Beatles Fest Day 1: Beatlemania vs. the economy

Even The Beatles community is beginning to feel the pinch. Just before we left Alabama, I received an e-mail from Beatles-A-Rama owner and programmer, Pat Matthews, talking with me about his new subscription service for Beatles-A-Rama radio. The station, which has been free of charge for years, is now seeking subscription members to stay afloat.
