Paul McCartney's new album sets a Billboard record that spans six decades

The release of McCartney III, just a few days before Christmas, helped McCartney usher in a Billboard record that spans over six decades. McCartney has reportedly become the first and only musical act to have a new record reach at least the top two slots for Billboard 200 chart's album sales in each of the last six decades.

Listen: McCartney III solo album unveiled

Paul McCartney has released his new solo album, McCartney III, recorded in the isolation of "Rockdown," as he calls it. McCartney calls the album, "an eclectic collection of spontaneous songs." The new release has 11 songs; there are an additional four tracks on a Japanese edition. McCartney performed all the instruments himself.

Paul McCartney to host Twitter listening party

Paul McCartney is set to host a Twitter listening party for new album McCartney III. Out tomorrow, December 18th, the record was constructed during lockdown at his home studio, with the Beatles icon playing every instrument himself. It takes place on Monday December 21st and closes with a listen to his festive classic Wonderful Christmastime.

McCartney III album delayed one week

Paul McCartney will be releasing a new solo album in 2020, with the title officially McCartney III, but fans will just have to wait one additional week. Yesterday, the legend's social media platforms noted "unforeseeable production delays" have caused the album to move from Dec. 11 to December 18.

In a new interview, Paul McCartney, who will release his new solo album McCartney III on December 11, said people often ask him when he will retire from music but that he never commits to the idea. He said, "Everything I do is always supposed to be my last...When we did Abbey Road I was dead, so everything else is a bonus."

Paul McCartney announces new McCartney III album

Paul McCartney will be releasing a new solo album in 2020, with the title officially McCartney III. On October 21, the legend formally announced the album's Dec. 11 release, with an official trailer. The new album's release date is December 11 via Capitol Records. It's available for pre-order on vinyl in the U.S.
