Richard Hamilton's cover for the eponymous 1968 double album by the Beatles achieved a rare feat. Andrew Wilson, the senior curator of Modern and contemporary art at Tate Britain said, "I can't think of many other records where the title that people give them is actually a description of the design for the cover."

Ringo Starr glad to be heard better on White Album reissue

Ringo Starr thanked Giles Martin, producer of the recently released expanded version of the Beatles' White Album, for making it possible to hear his drumming more clearly in the 1968 LP and its accompanying bonus material. He says that, with the new mixes, fans were able to better enjoy the power and energy Starr injected.

Beatles White Album 50th reissue is #1 seller

One day after the Nov. 9 release of the 50th Anniversary editions of The White Album, the 7-disc Super Deluxe edition vaulted to #1 on Amazon in the U.S. In addition, the 3-CD edition was at #1 in the U.K. and #3 in the U.S. Within hours of the initial Sept. 24 announcement, pre-orders for the Super Deluxe edition put it at #1.

Beatles release new video for Back In The U.S.S.R.

A new video for Back In The U.S.S.R. has been unveiled to mark the upcoming anniversary of The White Album. Flicking rapidly through various locations, including Moscow's Red Square, the clip ends with the group taking off in a plane. The video features the 2018 Mix of Back In The U.S.S.R., which will be included in the upcoming release.

Beatles producer Giles Martin to join YouTube White Album panel

Producer Giles Martin, who recently helmed the 50th anniversary edition of the White Album, will join a YouTube livestreamed panel discussion about that classic LP on November 7. It will include commentary about the newly remixed and expanded White Album, including the individual songs and its influence on modern music.

The clip brings to life the poster that was packaged with the original two-LP set, which featured a collage of photos and drawings provided by all four Beatles.

Paul McCartney praises modern White Album

Paul McCartney listened back to The Beatles' iconic White Album while preparing for the new reissue, and he told Giles Martin, son of the famed "fifth Beatle" Sir George Martin, how contemporary it still feels. Giles said, "We listened to The White Album mix and Paul said, I never realised how modern this record sounds."

John Lennon exhibit documents 50th anniversary of White Album

Images of the Beatles taken by Paul Saltzman in India at an ashram with the Maharishi in 1968 will be on display from Nov. 2 to 4 at the Pacific Edge Gallery in Laguna Beach. The exhibition is in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' White Album. The band wrote many of the songs at the ashram.

Streaming: Three unreleased versions of While My Guitar Gently Weeps

An acoustic demo of While My Guitar Gently Weeps has now been released ahead of the White Album Special Edition re-release on November 9. White Album outtakes get Hollywood premiere at Giles Martin-hosted event

Giles Martin previewed his 50th anniversary remix of the White Album at an invitational event at Capitol Records in Hollywood today. Martin presented an overview of the 107-track box, which will contain the 27 "Esher demos" recorded at George Harrison's home, remixes of the 30 original songs and 50 recording sessions outtakes.

On November 9, Apple Corps/UMe will release multiple deluxe editions of The White Album. All configurations will include producer Giles Martin's 2018 stereo mix of the album. On Wednesday, he played outtakes and demo tracks and his new stereo mix of the album at The Power Station Berklee in New York City.

Beatles White Album songs ranked worst to best

The White Album was famously made while the band was falling apart. As they became more entrenched in the studio, tensions boiled over to the point where they weren't a band anymore but backing groups for each other's solo recordings. There's no getting around it, the album often sounds like it was made by four different artists.

Before remastering, McCartney hadn't listened to White Album in 50 years

The White Album is getting a 50-year reissue next month, and Paul McCartney has told the Canadian Press that helping to prepare the reissue inspired him to actually give it a listen. "I haven't listened to it in 50 years," he admits, and says when he listens, "I remember where we were and the circumstances of recording each of the tracks."
