Details announced Fest for Beatles Fans celebrating US 50th anniversary

The Fest for Beatles Fans, the world's first and longest-running Beatles fan convention, will pull out all the stops for a 50th anniversary celebration of the Beatles' first arrival in the U.S.

Event founder Mark Lapidos has announced that the 2014 Fest will take place on Friday, February 7 through Sunday February 9 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City, with the dates and days of the week exactly corresponding to the dates of the Beatles' arrival at JFK Airport and performance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.

Lapidos says, "We're going all out to make the celebrations of the Beatles' 50th Anniversary and The Fest's own 40th Anniversary, into our biggest and best show ever! It is exciting to return to New York City, to the very place where it all started."

Guests at the convention will include many close friends and associates of the Beatles, several of whom were also successful British Invasion music stars including Peter Asher of Peter & Gordon, Donovan, Billy J. Kramer, Chad & Jeremy and former Beatles Fan Club organizer Freda Kelly, who was profiled in the recent documentary "Good Ol' Freda."

Also featured will be current Ringo Starr musical director Mark Rivera, former Ringo Starr producer Mark Hudson, the Smithereens, Jeff Slate and the Birds of Paradox, the Nutopians, and Vince Calandra (the Ed Sullivan Show production executive who substituted for George Harrison during "Sullivan" TV rehearsals).

Master of Ceremonies for The Fest is noted Beatles scholar (Encyclopedia Britannica) and DVD producer ("A Hard Day's Night") Martin Lewis.

New York Classic Rock radio station Q104.3 is a Presenting Sponsor and will host a "Q104.3 Lounge", just one of the many new features of this year's festivities. Station DJ Ken Dashow will serve as Co-MC. The 2014 New York Fest will also include two performance stages and expanded hours.

The New York Fest will also feature appearances by many authors of Beatles books, including Mark Lewisohn ("Tune In"), Vivek Tiwary ("The Fifth Beatle"), Bruce Spizer, Mark Hayward ("The Beatles With Norman Parkinson"), and Jude Southerland Kessler (The John Lennon Series).

The Fest days and times are Friday February 7th, from 5:00pm to Midnight, Saturday February 8th, 10:30am to Midnight and Sunday February 9th, 10:30am to Midnight.

Tickets for the New York Fest are available on The Fest website.
