Canadians pay tribute to 50th anniversary Lennon-Ono Bed-In for Peace

Prior to their concert in Montreal on Saturday night, Canadian singers Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida paid homage to the 50th anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous Bed-In for Peace. On Saturday, they staged a similar scene, in the very same room as Lennon and Ono once lay at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

How John Lennon told the story of his love for Yoko Ono in song

John Lennon began chronicling his love for Yoko Ono in the late 1960s, and that narrative continued through a posthumous album released years after his murder. In the end, these songs would account for half of Lennon's four U.K. chart toppers, beginning with the Beatles' Ballad of John and Yoko, recorded on April 14, 1969.

Inside John Lennon's Lost Weekend period

To label a period of 18 months a "lost weekend" seems a stretch to many, but to John Lennon it marked a time of intense creativity, outrageous behavior, a musical reunion with Paul McCartney, and the breakup and reconciliation of his relationship with Yoko Ono. In 2012, Ono said, "I needed a rest. I needed space."

Yoko Ono's works on show in Leipzig

"Yoko Ono. Peace is Power" is the most extensive retrospective of the Japanese-American artist's work in Germany to date. All sorts of media, including films, video works and her solo albums, are included in the exhibition at the Leipzig Museum of Fine Art in Leipzig, Germany, with rarely shown drawings also on display.

Unknown footage of John Lennon, Yoko Ono resurfaces after 50 years

Fifty years after John Lennon and Yoko Ono famously staged a honeymoon "bed-in" for peace in an Amsterdam hotel, a Dutchman has unearthed 30 minutes of color footage of the event from his cellar. The footage was broadcast only once, shortly after the Amsterdam honeymoon. The owner originally thought it was only a copy.

Artist recreates John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous Bed-In For Peace

A Heywood, Greater Manchester, England, artist and his partner celebrated the 50th anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's famous Bed-In For Peace performance by staging a bed-in of their very own in Wales on Saturday. Stuart and Joanne were joined by musicians, singers, film-makers and supporters.

They invited one shy, Dutch photographer to breakfast, they were constantly watched for any untoward activities, and they did pay the hotel bill. These were some of the memories revealed at the launch of a new exhibition at the Amsterdam Hilton of 50 photographs taken in 1969 of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

Rolling Stones film Rock & Roll Circus in theaters

To time with the upcoming North American leg of The Rolling Stones' No Filter tour, the band's 1968 film The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus will screen in theaters during the first week of April. The program features the Stones, the Who, Eric Clapton, Jethro Tull, Taj Mahal, Marianne Faithfull and John Lennon and Yoko Ono.

John Lennon marries Yoko Ono 50 years ago today

Letter details Lennon's anger with labels over his first album with Yoko

A letter written by John Lennon in 1971, in which he details his anger with his record label and the music industry at large over the Two Virgins album he released with Yoko Ono, will be sold at an auction in Boston tomorrow. The letter, written to journalist Martin George, has recently resurfaced and is expected to reach a price of $20,000.

A new two-hour TV special titled John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky, about the making of John Lennon's classic 1971 album, Imagine, and its title track, will premiere this Monday, March 11, as an episode of the A&E series Biography. The documentary features previously unseen footage from the archives of the John and Yoko Ono.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono's first gig celebrated 50 years on

A new plaque has been unveiled in commemoration of John Lennon and Yoko Ono's first public gig, 50 years ago at Cambridge University. Ono held a jazz performance at Lady Mitchell Hall at Cambridge on March 2 1969, Lennon joined her as "her band". A recording of Lennon and Ono's set was played at the dedication of the plaque.

A&E preps John Lennon, Yoko Ono doc special

A&E will premiere the two-hour special John and Yoko: Above Us Only Sky next month as part of the network's "Biography" series. John & Yoko's Wedding Album to be reissued

Secretly Canadian and Chimera Music are re-releasing Yoko Ono's musical output from 1968 to 1985. Yesterday, on Yoko Ono's 86th birthday, they announced the latest release, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Unfinished Music No. 3: Wedding Album will be reissued on March 22, two days after Ono and Lennon's 50th wedding anniversary.

John's sister reveals biggest misconception about Yoko and Beatles

John Lennon's sister Julia Baird has shared her thoughts on biggest misconception about Yoko Ono. When asked in her opinion is it unfair to blame the breakup of the Beatles on Yoko, Julia said, "Absolutely, it is very unfair. I don't think she was the cause of the breakup in my mind, and I think many fans don't think that either."

John and Yoko exhibition in Liverpool extended due to popular demand

The most intimate exhibition ever on the lives of John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono has been extended until November, National Museums Liverpool has announced. Open since May 2018, the exhibition "Double Fantasy" has become one of the Museum of Liverpool's most popular exhibitions, attracting more than 300,000 visitors.

On this day in 1968: Police seize 30,000 copies of Two Virgins album

On this date in 1968, police seized 30,000 copies of Two Virgins, the experimental album recorded by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The album's cover featured John and Yoko completely nude and was therefore deemed pornographic. The album was eventually released for sale with a brown paper sleeve.

Yoko Ono to attend opening of her Moscow exhibition in autumn 2019

Inside the hotel room where John and Yoko had their 1969 bed-in

The suite where John Lennon and Yoko Ono had their Montreal bed-in, on the 17th floor of the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, has been revamped recently as part of a hotel-wide refurbishment, costing more than $100 million. The suite features artefacts from the bed-in, including room service orders and housekeeping records.
