Beatles scholar Martin Lewis quits as emcee of Beatlefest conventions

After 22 years and 56 conventions, producer/humorist and Beatles scholar Martin Lewis, who was a protege of Beatles publicist Derek Taylor, has stepped down from his role as Master of Ceremonies of the Beatlefest conventions held in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Las Vegas, San Diego, San Francisco, Boston and Orlando.

Stars come together to honor John in New York City

The "Happy Birthday John!" concert took last Saturday night, just 6 blocks south of the Dakota Building and the Strawberry Fields memorial to Lennon in Central Park. The 4-hour concert played to a sold-out crowd of nearly one thousand Lennon admirers who saw an eclectic range of artists, several of them friends of Lennon.

Largest ukulele ensemble world record to be attempted at Beatles fest

The Sitar Emporium at the Wonderwall Music Shoppe & Emporium and The Fest For Beatles Fans are partnering together in gathering a thousand ukulele and Beatles enthusiasts in a attempt to set a new Guinness World Records(tm) world record for the Largest Ukulele Ensemble this summer at the The Fest For Beatles Fans in Chicago.

UK to get Rutles 30th Anniversary DVD in November

According to the greatest-ever rock 'n' roll documentary spoof is getting a DVD reissue in November. The Rutles: All You Need Is Cash is a loving tribute to the Beatles, written by Eric Idle and music by Neil Innes, who wrote tunes that are so iconic they have become part of the Beatles musical lexicon for many Beatles fans.

New DVD tells the untold story of Magical Mystery Tour

A new DVD entitled "The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour Memories," is now available in the UK, and will be released in the US on September 29. It features the memories of celebrities, eye-witness accounts of fans who were there and previously unseen exciting 8mm color home movie footage taken at the time.

In August, Wienerworld, a company in the UK that specialises in CDs and DVDs that promote musical artists, will release a DVD entitled "The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour Memories," an upbeat rockumentary featuring the vivid memories of those who witnessed the making of Magical Mystery Tour in 1967.

Beatles-related films dominate film festival

The American Cinematheque announces the lineup of its 9th annual "Mods & Rockers Film Festival". The expansive two-week program features 31 films and shorts and the first full-length solo concert in the festival's nine-year history. 24 of the films are receiving their theatrical premiere at the festival.

This week is the exact 30th anniversary of the world premiere of the Rutles film "All You Need Is Cash." To celebrate the anniversary, all four Rutles appeared together at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. It was the first-ever public appearance together of the four performers who portrayed The Rutles.

Rutlemania! Live in Hollywood!

Stupendous! Collossal! The best musical play ever! These are all things that have been said about other shows. Last night, however, I saw Rutlemania! live at the Ricardo Montalban Theater in Hollywood. But seriously, folks, it was really well done and everybody had a great time!

March sees the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the Rutles film "All You Need Is Cash". The Mods & Rockers Film Festival is presenting the official celebration of the Rutles' 30th anniversary with a gala event at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. It will take place on Monday March 17th 2008.
