Roy Young, who turned down chance to join the Beatles, dead at 83

Roy Young, who has died aged 83, was a rock n' roll star who played with David Bowie and The Beatles. He played with Cliff Richard and The Shadows, and in Hamburg with Ringo Starr and Tony Sheridan, where he became friends with The Beatles and before long he was enlisted to play keyboard and sing backing vocals.

Beatles radio show announces Macca Month

Beatles radio personality Ken Michaels has announced that starting June 3, it's "Macca Month" on his website, with his weekly Beatles trivia/games centering on a Paul McCartney question. Throughout the month, fans will have a chance to win McCartney-related prizes, including the new "Wings Over America" 2-CD remaster.

Weekly Beatles radio show to rebroadcast Tony Sheridan interview

This Wednesday, as a tribute to Tony Sheridan, veteran Beatles DJ Ken Michaels will present his interview with Sheridan on the live broadcast of his weekly live and syndicated Beatles radio program "Every Little Thing." The interview took place in November 1992 at a Beatles Getaway weekend at Pines Hotel, Catskills, NY.

John Lennon remembered by the Cavern in Liverpool

John Lennon's life and music were remembered last night at Liverpool's Echo Arena, the final event for the John Lennon Tribute Season that kicked off with celebrations for his 70th birthday. John's first group the Quarryman performed, followed by the Cavern Club's own The Shakers, who then backed rocker Tony Sheridan for a few songs.

Ringo's new CD Y Not available on January 12

It's official! The new Ringo Starr album/CD will be entitled "Y Not". It will be released on Jan 12, 2010 on Hip-O/Universal Records. A track listing has not yet been released. This will be Ringo's 7th release for the Universal label. Reportedly, Gary Wright has commented that Paul McCartney plays bass on at least one track.

30th Annual International Dutch Beatles Convention

Every year, in the Easter weekend, Beatles Unlimited organises its annual International Beatles Convention at the Theatre Musketon, Utrecht, Netherlands. This year it takes place on the 13th of April, 2009. This annual event, the biggest on the European continent, has been held since 1980. This year's Special guest will Pattie Boyd.

Beatles legends at the Hamburg Sound Festival this weekend

Fans of Beat music and the sixties will rejoice: After the memorable success in 2006, Hamburg is about to celebrate its second "Hamburg Sound Festival". Concerts of famous Beat legends are going to be staged at the hamburgmuseum and the neighbouring "Fliegende Bauten".

New CD includes guest appearance from Tony Sheridan

Guitarist and songwriter Dave Humphries will perform a CD Release Show for his 4th album, "and so it goes..." On March 1, 2008, at Humphrey's in San Diego. Guest appearances on the CD include Beatles compatriot Tony Sheridan.
